Cape Town Diwali Festival to return during October

The Cape Town Diwali Festival Once will once again light up the heart of the Mother City as it makes its much anticipated return on Saturday October 15. This remarkable journey had its debut in 2009 and provides a vibrant colourful backdrop to the festive spirit that pervades the City this time of the year.

"This is one cultural festival that has universal appeal, bringing all people together to foster a triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, thus magnifying the awareness of the inner light" says festival director Thev Pather.

The Cape Town Diwali festival is aimed to showcase the festival as a fun-filled event for all South Africans of all ages, cultural and religious organisations and upholds the principle of unity and harmony amongst a diverse community.

Director of the Indian Academy of South Africa, Dr TP Naidoo says: "I welcome these celebrations as this is a wonderful opportunity for the Indian people to showcase the cultural value and beauty of Deepavali."

This event is endorsed by the Indian Arts Academy of South Africa.
Patrons will be treated to a variety of tantalising experiences which include the sights, sounds and tastes of India. Organisers guarantee entertainment for both young and old with a talent competition for the young ones, a vibrant on-stage production journeying through India and the legends of Diwali together with a glamorous Sari Queen pageant.
