*Unrequited Love: Under A Sickle Moon

A contemporary take on the classic theme of unrequited love - key to countless examples of classical literature and musical theatre, such as William Shakespeare’s play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’,  F. Scott Fitzgerald’s  novel ‘The Great Gatsby’, Gabriel García Márquez’ ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’, as well as operas like ‘La Traviata’ and ‘Aida’ to mention but a few - as explored by young artists and designers in a broad range of media.

Although the work is blatantly about the sex for sale aspects of these advertisements, it seeks to highlight the many ways in which we prostitute ourselves in an effort to draw to us the resources and attention we believe we need to get ahead in this world. What it hopes to illustrate, is the fragility and abuse we open ourselves up to when we sell ourselves and our dreams short in this manner.
